McLaren Old Boys keeping it in the family

On April 30th Bruce Harre dropped into the Trust office. As some members know, Bruce Harre goes as far back as the M1B, an Oldsmobile powered Group 7 car which he worked on in 1965 at Kent-Washington, a circuit near Seattle. Nowadays Bruce Harre’s university graduate son Michael (named after Mike Hailwood) is in his third season as an engineer in Formula One with the Super Aguri team. This season, he's manager of performance engineering which Bruce says means he actually talks to mechanics.

However, a report in the NZ Herald today indicates that Super Aguri may have raced its final race after problems with backers Honda. Let's hope not. Even though Super Aguri is the tail-ender, Formula 1 needs all the teams an input it can get to keep it as interesting for the fans as possible.
