Development from original cars to present

Hi!

I have been given an odd assignment at uni (3rd year graphic design). I have to design 3 stamps and a miniature sheet which represents new zealand design now on the world stage. what i would like to know is how much of bruce mclarens original philosophy goes into the present day formula 1 cars? i have to be able to justify using the present cars as new zealand design....
